Shah Abbasi is one of the main flowers in Iranian traditional design. The peculiar shape for designing this motif is Khetai strings.
The great Shah Abbas was one of the emperors and kings of the Safavid era known for traditional Iranian design and carpet weaving. The Khetai flower is therefore attributed to him. The origin of the plant motif is derived from the pomegranate flower. It is a sacred flower, the roots of which date back to millenniums before Iranian history.
